Home' MHD Supply Chain Solutions : MHD Jan-Feb 2016 Contents The SCLAA has completed another successful
financial year and indeed calendar year, with
hard-working divisions in Queensland, New
South Wales, ACT/Southern NSW, Victoria/
Tasmania, South Australia/Northern Territory
and Western Australia, comprising of their
committees and presidents.
Our revenue for the financial year was
$855,792 and expenses $795,856, resulting in
a surplus of $59,936. Revenue, expenses and
the surplus were all up on prior year primarily
due to the Federal Government grant we
received at the start of the 2013/2014 Financial
Year. The grant program was completed on time
and under budget, and we were able to return
un-spent funds to the Federal Government.
Though good management, the board this
financial year has fully paid back the cash
loans on the Queensland, Western Australia
and Victorian SCLAA divisions. I would like to
especially thank our treasurer Peter Hollins and
the office logistics team.
Retained earnings/total equity are a healthy
I am very pleased to see that half of our
state or division presidents are women, and
it demonstrates again that women play a key
role in the industry in Australia. Congratulations
to Nerida Kelton in Queensland, Tamara de
Michiel in NSW, and Kym Parry in Western
Australia. We also have a new president in
Victoria with Yit Ming Ng the new president.
Thank you Damian and Josh for all your good
work as Victorian and NSW presidents.
Merger - no merger
As mentioned at the last AGM, the SCLAA tried
hard to merge with the LAA, but it wasn’t to be
and the LAA directors wound up the LAA earlier
this year. The SCLAA ultimately benefited and
we saw new members in all six of our divisions
and we are now at 27 national partners more
than double the same time last year.
So we added 2K Container Services, Baytech,
Blackbay, Dematic, Drake International, Integra
Packaging, Linde Material Handling, LSC
Solutions, MHD magazine, Institute of Supply
Chain Management - Victoria University, NRMA
Business Motoring, Quintiq, Toyota Material
Handling, Secure Communications Advisors,
Symmetry, Syspro, and T&L News to add to the
existing national partners IBS, Pulse Logistics,
Labourforce, Impex Personal, Randstad,
RMIT University, STEP Supply Chain, Strategix
Training Group and Trogan Recruitment Group.
During the year we released our new website
www.SCLAA.com.au, which is easier to manage
and add content. Our Google page rank has
increased and our website visits were up 14%
The SCLAA is actively look at ways to
increase events, membership, and revenue
and reduce expenses all commensurate with
improving member value.
The key objective for this year will be to roll
out our strategic plan and increase revenue
and membership. The board set itself five key
measures in September 2014, and all are now
complete. We now move to the next phase of
growth and we will announce those plans early
We want to thank you for your support,
feedback and suggestions with all our events
during the year.
I would like to thank all members, national
and corporate partners, the board, division
presidents and committees, office logistics, and
special committees like the Awards and Future
Leaders Group for their support and dedication
during the year
On behalf of the SCLAA National Board,
division committees and all the volunteers at
the SCLAA, we would like to wish members a
safe and prosperous New Year and continued
success in 2016.
